The forthcoming month will witness a significant change in shared taxi fares for popular routes from Mumbai, impacting travel to Nashik, Shirdi, and Pune. With adjustments ranging between ₹50 to ₹200, passengers can expect revised fare charts soon across key taxi stands like Dadar, Borivali, and Sion. This decision, driven by recommendations from the esteemed B C Khatua panel, comes after approval from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA).

Passengers opting for AC taxis from Mumbai to Nashik will encounter a ₹100 hike, while those heading to Shirdi will face a ₹200 increase. On the other hand, both AC and non-AC taxi rides to Pune will see a rise of ₹50. This results in revised fares of ₹575 and ₹825 for AC taxis traveling to Nashik and Shirdi respectively, up from the current rates of INR 475 and INR 625. For the Mumbai-Pune route, non-AC taxi fares will climb to ₹500 from INR 450, and for AC taxis, it will be INR 575 instead of INR 525.

Considering the distances involved, with the Mumbai-Pune route spanning 155 km, and the Mumbai-Nashik and Mumbai-Shirdi routes covering 175 km and 265 km respectively, these fare adjustments reflect the evolving cost dynamics and the need for aligning fares with current standards. While the Mumbai-Pune route experienced fare revisions recently, the fares for the Mumbai-Nashik and Mumbai-Shirdi routes have remained unchanged since September 2013. The impending fare adjustments are expected to cater to both passenger comfort and the operational sustainability of taxi services on these vital intercity routes.
